The Divinity School is pleased to welcome the following three new visiting faculty members starting January 1, 2023: Mehmetcan Akpinar, Muktar Ali, and Stephen Walker.

Mehmetcan Akpinar is a scholar of Early and Medieval Islamic History and Thought whose research addresses questions of transmission and intertextuality in Arabic historical and religious traditions.

Mukhtar Ali is a scholar of Islamic Studies, specializing in Sufism, Islamic philosophy and ethics. His areas of interest include Arabic and Persian literature, Qurʾānic studies, theology, traditional medicine and comparative religion.

Stephen Walker is a scholar of classical Chinese philosophy, especially of certain texts that typically get called “Daoist” like the Zhuangzi and the Huainanzi.
