Sheila E. Jelen writes an Article for Falsettos

Sheila E. Jelen, Professor of Religion, Literature and Visual Culture and History of Judaism at the University of Chicago Divinity School, wrote an article for the current Court Theater production, Falsettos.
In this article, entitled “Beyond the Synagogue”: Jewishness in Falsettos, Jelen explores how the Broadway musical Falsettos reflects evolving expressions of Jewish religious practice. Drawing on Rachel B. Gross's work, Jelen highlights how the play reimagines Jewish rituals and community bonds through food, love, and resilience, illustrating the dynamic and inclusive nature of American Judaism.
