I am a board certified spiritual care provider through the Association of Professional Chaplains (2018) currently working at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC). Prior to LUMC, I worked at an acute rehabilitation hospital, Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (SRAL), with persons recovering from major traumas and illness for about 5 years. I joined SRAL after finishing graduate studies at the University of Chicago’s Divinity School (M. Div. 2016) followed by chaplaincy residency at Rush University Medical Center (2017) and a clinical fellowship at Chicago Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (2019).
When asked, I identify as a Hindu-Buddhist with humanistic tendencies. I am lay ordained in the Soto Zen tradition of Buddhism, trained in contemplative practices, and specialize in existential psychotherapy. In addition to caring for persons experiencing major crises and end of life, I actively interact with graduate students around spiritual care and counseling education, engage with Chicago communities around matters of immigration and trauma stewardship, and participate in clinical research on topics related to healthcare related stress/resilience and contextual wisdom.
When I am not doing all these things, I play soccer, watch terribly made TV shows, make sure my plants aren't dead, eat, and travel home to Nepal.
