Tommaso Bacci
Tommaso Bacci is a PhD candidate in Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East at the University of Chicago Divinity School. His dissertation, directed by Jeffrey Stackert, examines direct Akkadian-Hebrew language contact in the so-called Priestly texts (P, H, and H-like material) of the Pentateuch, engaging questions of biblical Hebrew lexicography, comparative Semitics, textual criticism, and the linguistic dating of Pentateuchal sources. Before coming to Chicago, Bacci earned a License in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome.
Bacci is broadly interested in the intersections of philology, ancient Near Eastern literature, Assyriology, textual criticism, and the compositional history of the Pentateuch. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Maarav and Vetus Testamentum.
