Faculty Post-Doctoral Researcher and Instructor

Donato Loia is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Instructor in Art and Religion at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He earned his PhD in Contemporary Art from the University of Texas at Austin (2023). He previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His fellowships include the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Modern and Contemporary Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, as well as appointments at the Menil Collection and UT Austin’s Visual Arts Center. His work has appeared in New Blackfriars, Visual Studies, Religion and the Arts, among others. He is Book Review Editor for Religious Studies Review. His first book, 1095 Short Sentences, was published by B-Side Editions in 2024.
