PhD Student Theology

Christopher Poore is a PhD student in theology whose research explores how the doctrine of God's holiness can inform the Church's response to the desecration that its members both commit and suffer. He holds an MA from the Divinity School and an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary, where his thesis work focused on the cruciform shape of beauty in the theology of Hans Urs von Balthasar. In addition to his Divinity School studies, he serves as an assisting priest at the Church of the Ascension, an Anglo-Catholic parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. His writing and research have appeared in St. Vladimir's Theological Quarterly, The Anglican Theological Review, America Magazine, and The Living Church, and he is the series editor for the Costan Lectures in Early Christian Theology from VTS Press. You can follow his work via Substack, Drawn from the Chalice.
