Yiftach Ofek is a scholar of Modern Judaism, Political Philosophy, and Israel Studies. His dissertation, “The ‘New Jew’ of Zionist Historiography: The Social Vision and Historical Imagination of Yitzhak Baer, Gershom Scholem, and Yehezkel Kaufmann,” examines the relationship between the political ideas and the historical writings of three of the founders of Israeli historiography. Some of his current projects include essays on Yitzhak Baer, Leo Strauss, the contemporary postliberal moment, and Israeli geopolitics through a civilizational perspective. This year, Dr. Ofek will be teaching Jewish Civilization I & II, and Classics of Social and Political Thought.
