The University Ca' Foscari, Venice will confer its highest honor on Arnold I. Davidson, naming him an honorary member of the faculty (Membro Onorario del Corpo Accademico). He will be the first American to receive this honor. The conferring of this title will take place in a formal ceremony presided over by the Rector of the Università Ca' Foscari, Venezia and followed by a Lectio Magistralis.
Davidson has given the Lezioni Veneziane and is a regular visiting professor in the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage.
Arnold Davidson is the Robert O. Anderson Distinguished Service Professor of the Philosophy of Judaism and Philosophy of Religions in the Divinity School; he is also in the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Comparative Literature, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and the Committee on the Conceptual and Historical Studies of Science. He is also Director of the France-Chicago Center. In 2013 he was inducted as an Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.
