Publications

The Martin Marty Center puts out two very different online publications: the twice-weekly Sightings and the monthly Religion and Culture Web Forum.

Sightings reports and comments on the role of religion in current events via e-mail twice a week to a readership of over 5,000. Through the eyes, ears, and keyboards of a diverse group of writers, Sightings displays the kaleidoscope of religious activity: a reflection of how religious currents are shaping and being shaped in the world.

The Religion and Culture Web Forum is an online forum for thought-provoking discussion on the relationship of scholarship in religion to culture and public life. Each month a scholar of religion is invited to comment on his or her own research in a way that "opens out" to themes, problems, and events in world cultures and contemporary life. Scholars from diverse fields of study are invited to offer responses to these commentaries.

A number of books and articles have been published under the various research projects and conferences sponsored by the Marty Center. The Center also publishes occasional papers that seek to disseminate examples of its work to an audience comprising scholars, community leaders, religion journalists, and interested members of the public.
