 Phyllis D. Airhart

Phyllis D. Airhart is Associate Professor of History of Christianity at Emmanuel College of Victoria University (University of Toronto) in Ontario, Canada. She is author of Serving the Present Age: Revivalism, Progressivism, and the Methodist Tradition in Canada (Montreal and Buffalo: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1992) and many articles. On the Project she is co-editor with Margaret Lamberts Bendroth of Faith Traditions and the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996).

 David L Balch

David L. Balch is Professor of New Testament at Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas. He is author of Let Wives Be Submissive: The Domestic Code in I Peter (Atlanta, GA: Scholars Press, 1988) and many articles, co-editor of Greeks, Christians, and Romans: Essays in Honor of Abraham J. Malherbe (Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 1990), and co- author of The New Testament in Its Social Environment (Philadelphia: Westminster Press, 1986). On the Project he is co-author with Carolyn Osiek of Families in the New Testament World (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997).

 Margaret Lamberts Bendroth

Margaret Lamberts Bendroth is Codirector of the Women and Twentieth-Century Protestantism project at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, MA. She is author of Fundamentalism and Gender, 1875 to the Present (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1993) and many articles. On the Project she is co-author with Phyllis D. Airhart of Faith Traditions and the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996).

 Don S. Browning

Don S. Browning is the Alexander Campbell Professor of Ethics and the Social Sciences at The University of Chicago Divinity School and Director of the Religion, Culture, and Family Project. He is author of nine books including A Fundamental Practical Theology (Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1991), Religious Thought and the Modern Psychologies (Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1987), and Religious Ethics and Pastoral Care (Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1983), and many articles. In addition to being Director of the Project, he is co-author of the Project book From Culture Wars to Common Ground: Religion and the Family Debate (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997) and co- editor of The Family Handbook (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1998).

 Lisa Sowle Cahill

Lisa Sowle Cahill is Professor of Christian Ethics at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. She is the author of 'Love Your Enemies': Discipleship, Pacifism, and Just War Theory (1994), Women and Sexuality (New York: Paulist Press, 1992), Between the Sexes: Foundations for a Christian Ethic of Sexuality (Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 1985) and many articles; co-author of Religion and Artificial Reproduction: An Inquiry into the Vatican "Instruction on the Respect of Human Life in Its Origin (New York: Crossroad, 1988); and co-editor of Embodiment, Morality, and Medicine(Boston: Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1995), The Family (Maryknoll, NY: Orbis, 1995), and Aging(Philadelphia: Trinity, 1991). On the Project she is author of Sex, Gender, and Christian Ethics (Cambridge University Press, 1996).

 Anne E. Carr

Anne E. Carr is Professor of Theology at The University of Chicago Divinity School in Chicago, IL. She is author of Transforming Grace: Christian Tradition and Women's Experience (San Francisco: Harper & Row, 1990), and many articles. In addition to being on the Project's Advisory Council, she is co-editor with Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen of the Project book Religion, Feminism, and the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996).

 Pamela D. Couture

Pamela D. Couture is Director of the American Theological Schools (ATS) Faculty Resource Center in Pittsburg, PA. She is author of Blessed Are the Poor? Women's Poverty, Family Policy, and Practical Theology (Nashville, TN: Abingdon Press, 1991) and many articles. On the Project she is co-author of From Culture Wars to Common Ground: Religion and the Family Debate (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997) and a contributor to Carr and Van Leeuwen, eds., Religion, Feminism, and the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996).

 Robert Michael Franklin

Robert Michael Franklin is Director of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA and professor at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He is author of Liberating Visions: Human Fulfillment and Social Justice in African American Thought(Minneapolis: Augsburg Fortress Press, 1990) and many articles. On the Project he is co-author of From Culture Wars to Common Ground: Religion and the Family Debate (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997).

 Bonnie Miller-McLemore

Bonnie Miller-McLemore is Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Counseling at Vanderbilt University Divinity School in Nashville, TN. She is author of Reconstructing Pastoral Theology: Under the Influence of Feminist Methodologies and Beyond (Nashville, TN: Abingdon, 1999), Also a Mother: Work and Family as a Theological Dilemma (Nashville, TN: Abingdon, 1994), and many articles.  Carolyn Osiek

Carolyn Osiek, R.S.C.J. is Professor of New Testament at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, IL. She is author of Beyond Anger: On Being a Feminist in the Church (New York: Paulist Press, 1986) and many articles. On the Project she is co-author with David Balch of Families in the New Testament World: Households and House Churches (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997).

 Leo Perdue

Leo Perdue is Professor of Hebrew Bible and Dean, Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. He is author among other things of Wisdom in Revolt: Metaphorical Theology in the Book of Job Bible and Literature Series (Sheffield, England: Almond Press, 1991) and many articles. On the Project he is co-author with Joseph Blenkinsopp, John J. Collins, and Carol Meyers of Families in Ancient Israel (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997).

 Ted Peters

Ted Peters is Professor of Systematic Theology at Pacific Lutheran Seminary in Berkeley, CA. He is author of God as Trinity: Relationality and Temporality in Divine Life and numerous other books and articles. On the Project he is author of For the Love of Children: Genetic Technology and the Future of the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996).

 Archie Smith, Jr.

Archie Smith, Jr. is Foster Professor of Pastoral Psychology and Counseling at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. He is author of many articles. On the Project he is co-editor with K. Brynolf Lyon of Tending the Flock (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1998).

 Max L. Stackhouse

Max L. Stackhouse is Stephen Coldwell Professor of Christian Ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. He is author among other things of Christian Social Ethics in a Global Era (Nashville, TN: Abingdon, 1995), On Moral Business: Classical and Contemporary Resources for Ethics in Economic Life (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1995), Pastoral Theology and Political Economy: Christian Stewardship in Modern Society (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1987), and many articles.  Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen

Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen is Professor of Psychology and Philosophy at Eastern College in St. Davids, PA and Resident Scholar at Eastern College's Center for Christian Women in Leadership. She is author of Gender and Grace: Love, Work, and Parenting in a Changing World (Downers Grove, IL: Intervarsity Press, 1990), co-editor of After Eden: Facing the Challenge of Gender Reconciliation (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans Publishing Co., 1993), and author of many articles. On the Project she is co-editor with Anne Carr of Religion, Feminism, and the Family (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1996) and co-editor of The Family Handbook (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1998).

 John Witte, Jr.

John Witte, Jr. is Jonas Robitscher Professor of Law and Ethics and Director of the Law and Religion Program at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA. He is editor of several books on human rights and law and religion and many articles. On the Project he is author of From Sacrament to Contract: Marriage, Religion, and Law in the Western Tradition (Westminster/John Knox Press, 1997).
